Yes, I'm back in the garden again, cutting sage for our Miss Bea at church. She always likes to have some this time of year since Thanksgiving is coming on. While I was cutting it, I noticed some little tomato plants. They are almost four or five inches high, but totally out of season. They will not survive the frost. They are not timely at all.
I feel rather sorry for them. They look so green and healthy. I wish they could make it. Then, I remember, there is a time and season for everything. There is a time to grow tomatoes and a time to cut Thanksgiving sage. Spiritually, we have seasons as well. There's a time to pray with sad hearts and there's a time to sing with glad hearts. There are times to study with open minds and times to accept new truth that the Spirit opens up to us. Times to rejoice in old and faithful friendships and times to make new ones.
I am so glad God created seasons. I love the color of fall. My garden is so lovely now, so mature, so ready to be harvested! How about the gardens of our souls? Maybe a timely thought or two will help us to find joy of a timely action or two. Do you feel like cutting sage with me? |
